After many years as ill-esha, the name has become an umbrella for all the things I do including education, mentorship, content creation and interactive systems development.
But most especially, the algorithms aren’t kind to long-career artists; they tend to stick you in the genre you started with, and if you’ve been with me for any stretch over the last 20+ years, you know I’m an evolver. I love to play with styles, textures, mediums and instrumentation, and Spotify has not really picked up on it – they continue to throw me in “Best of 2009” glitch hop playlists.
Additionally, I’ve always felt that my “core flavor” of pop songwriting mixed with experimental electronic textures was getting a little lost amongst all the dancefloor hits.
My new project, ellipse, aims to play with all the mediums I never had time to explore before. Visuals, lights, and more music videos!
All content is specifically updated over there, and there’s a magical tarot deck in process of release. Each single has its own tarot card and its own video/visual identity.
My new live show will feature ever more gesture-based, innovative technology including mimu gloves.
