So in honor of #throwbackthursday, the next installment of my old ill-esha mix series. To give you a little context.

This mix is all done on vinyl and turntables, without any edits except a limiter. It’s nothing super fancy mix wise, I just made it to listen to my favorite vinyl. Unfortunately I can’t pinpoint exactly when I made this, but it was somewhere between 2003 and 2006. Some classic ninja tune type stuff, hip hop, blah blah. No, I’m not going to give you a tracklist because back then, my identification of a tune consisted of “the blue label with the purple sticker side” and “the green double pack with a skull on it”. Etc. I will tell you it starts off with one of my favorite one-time collab projects of all time, Lovage (Mike Patton, Dan the Automator and Kid Koala all in the same place. should happen more often!!!)

MORNING AFTER DOWNTEMPO MIX

And here is a throwback picture of myself taken at the Heineken Music Festival in Taiwan in 2004, carrying my MicroKorg (which still sits in my studio). It was also the first time I made the acquaintance of the legendary tutorial guru Vespers.

Ahhhh, memories.
